busa rolled off sidestand in driveway

OMG, sorry to be reading this Rook. I know how I felt when the wind sent my new bike(2007)down the driveway with no rider as I watched in horror when the kick stand folded in. I'm sure my neighbors did not enjoy my little temper tantrum. In short I feel your pain. Stay strong.

Thanks, Rom.

This all happened because I FORGOT to connect the cable to the locking mechanism to the hump. I rolled the bike up to have a look at what I could do to fish the lock through the plastics.

Well, problem solved. Got the lock open and hump off. Cable connected as should be. New list of much bigger problems now needs attending to.

grrrrr sighhh.

I LOVE to mess with the bikes but I've had about enough. I'll get this all figured out in time. Yeah, been through this with the 14. This one is a lot worse but my bodywork skills have improved a lot since 08. Just gonna take time. She'll be better than new.

Thanks for the thoughts. So now it's the busa on hold and I'm back on the 14's wheel. I'll feel a lot better when I get that sorted out.

Someone at busa.org suggested a Woodcraft stator cover. I'm starting to like this tip over! Pazzo levers, gotta have! We'll see what to do with the plastics. I'll go for $500-$600 but no more than that. I hate spend money on replacing OEM stuff.

and here are the pics promised earlier. NOt so bad , eh? I mean, I can't ride the bike like that but almost tempted to touchup with a pen for the summer if need be.

Bar end mirror bung I can spray black and rotate. Never know it was rashed. Clutch lever is bent and busted.

Top fairing. I can fix this with a touchup pen.

whole side view of damage.

close up of side scrapes.

Tail pod.

rearset

stator

I rode the bike tonight. Everything seems fine, mechanically.

I see the fairing is gapped between the black textured plastic and the painted side piece. If there are broken tabs, I'll prolly be buying new fairings and going the easy, albeit expensive route.

That sucks but it could be worst. It just the price of ownership...
That's the frustrating part of modifying... running into unforeseen problems and creating new ones. That's why I am anxious to call it a day and just ride.

so back to the 14 huh?

Sorry to hear that, Rook. That can make you want to scream at the top of your lungs. But as you said, it'll be better than ever once you are done with it.

Ain't that the truth. Most know how expensive my exhaust install was. Broke the fairing work and that cost me an additional $590 or so to have replace, on top of the exhaust cost.............Much like pulling the cork out of a barrel.

Thanks for condolences, all.

Since the first tipover. The busa took one more nap in the driveway. About three weeks later. I hadn't replaced anything except the bar end mirror so no harm. I didn't ride the busa any more after that last season. Ordered new fairings and a Woodcraft stator cover, Pazzos + a new bar end mirror and a left tail pod. It was about 14 hundred bucks. Got it all back together and installed a Zero Gravity dark smoke windscreen and fairing mesh. Runs good but I see some gaps in the fairings so looks like i will need to buy a new fairing stay or bend the old one back somehow.

the right side is not side it fell on but that is where the fairings don't match up. The left side is nice and tight.

I'll ride it like this and work on that fairing stay over the winter.

The sidestand is a regular issue on the Hayabusa... it doesn't swing far enough forward to allow a strong over-center position. Sidestand mods are all over the different Hayabusa forums so I assume that you're familiar with it?

I ground away the sidestand mount on both of my 'Busas and never had a worry afterwards. My friend with his '08 didn't modify his and found the bike lying in his driveway one day... sucked, to say the least.
